What are the real benefits of working out?

Do you work out on a regular basis? If not, you could be making a very big mistake.

Recent research shows that regular exercise is linked to the improvement of subjective memory in breast cancer survivors.

A team of researchers at Chicago’s Northwestern University recently published a study that indicates that moderate to vigorous exercise could help boost the memory of women who have survived breast cancer. These women have reported memory issues at higher rates than women who have not suffered from breast cancer.

Improved memory was not the only benefit of regular exercise, according to the study. Out of the 1,800 study participants, those women who got moderate to high levels of exercise on a regular basis also presented with higher levels of self-esteem and lower levels of overall stress.

Women who have defeated breast cancer will likely have higher levels of self-esteem, better memory, and less stress with regular exercise than those women who do not workout. However, this study is not just important for breast cancer survivors.

The study also indicates that the rest of us can benefit from exercise in a huge way as well.

Although this is already something that most of us already know, it never hurts to have a reminder of just how important physical activity actually is.

In today’s busy world, it can be easy to put exercising off. Work is crazy, the kids always seem to need something, and you are tired at the end of the day. However, is being a couch potato really worth your health?

Regular exercise has a ton of benefits ranging from improving your overall mood to preventing serious illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Staying active also has a positive effect on your sleep habits and your sex life.

You do not have to join a gym or hire a personal trainer to reap the benefits of working out.

Just get out there and be a little more active. Take a walk or go for a bike ride, for example. While you watch your favourite show, do a few squats or some yoga poses. Did you know that a simple 30-minute brisk walk is enough to keep you healthy?

Getting started may be the hardest part, but once you do, you will look and feel better than you ever have before. What is stopping you?
